The Group operates under four segments: The Avista Utilities segment generates, transmits and distributes electricity and distributes natural gas. It also engages in wholesale purchases and sales of electric capacity and energy. The Energy Trading and Marketing segment engages in electricity and natural gas marketing and trading business. The Information and Technology segment provides internet-based facility intelligence, cost management, billing and information services. It also develops a modular air-cooled, self-hydrating Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell that delivers clean distributed power solutions. Other Segment is responsible for investing in business opportunities. Avista Utilities accounted for 91% of 2002 revenues; Energy Trading and Marketing, 6%; Information and Technology, 2% and Other, 1%.
