The Group operates in four business segments: Contract Generation: Supplies wholesale electricity under long-term contracts for more than 75% of their output. Competitive Supply: Supplies electricity, both wholesale and retail, pursuant to short-term contracts or spot electricity markets. Large Utilities: Utilities of significant size that maintain a monopoly franchise within a defined service area. Growth Distribution: Offers significant potential for growth because they face particular challenges related to operational difficulties such as outdated equipment, significant non-technical losses, cultural problems, emerging economies. The Group has international operations in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean countries. Large Utilities accounted for 36% of 2002 revenues; Contract Generation, 29%; Competitive Supply, 21% and Growth Distribution, 14%.
